Committee of Management

Our kindergarten is a not for profit, Committee run kindergarten. The Committee of Management is an elected group of parents who meet once a month to plan and discuss matters related to the running of the kindergarten. The election of the Committee occurs each November at our AGM. With governance support from a Director and an Administration Officer, the committee is responsible for the administration of funds, maintenance of the grounds and building, employment of staff, liaisons with the Department of Education and Training, complying with Children’s Services Regulations and any other business that may arise. Joining the Committee is a rewarding experience and a wonderful way to contribute to your child’s kindergarten. We urge all parents/guardians to consider joining for a range of different roles including President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Fundraising Officer or General members.

Staff

My time as a teacher at Centenary Drive Kindergarten began in 2003. Since returning from maternity leave, my role has evolved into that of the Director/Educational Leader. I feel extremely lucky to be a part of such a wonderful and caring kindergarten community and am proud of the high quality service we deliver. I gain tremendous satisfaction in building strong relationships with our families and children, our skilled staff and  the dedicated committee members. While I spend most of my time in the office these days, I can sometimes be seen sneaking out to share a conversation, puzzle or story with the kinder children.

I have worked in the Early Childhood sector for 15 years and enjoy making strong connections with each child and family and supporting each child’s development through building on their strengths and interests. I love sharing their excitement when discovering new things and their satisfaction when they achieve new skills. I love the inquisitive minds of young children and I believe all children are capable and competent learners. I have two children of my own and enjoy participating in lots of different sports with them, watching movies, seeing our friends and spending time with each other.

I have been a teacher for over 20 years and enjoyed being part of children’s learning journey as they start Kinder. There is such enjoyment watching children grow and develop and knowing you have contributed to that learning. I have three children, all of which are at primary school and enjoy reading, cooking, and crafts.

I’ve been working with children since 1998 and at Centenary Drive since 2017. As an educator it is really rewarding seeing the children grow and develop into confident little people and to know I had some part in it.

Sonia Cianchetta-Barbante, Diploma of Early Childhood Education & Care
Hello, I’m Sonia and have just recently joined CDK in 2024. I have been part of this wonderful sector since 2015 and fortunate enough to work in various roles. This year I am honoured and so very privileged to join this team as an Educator in the 4YO and 3YO groups. Thank you for welcoming me and I look forward to a successful partnership with both children and their families and importantly having lots of learning fun.

I have been a part of the Centenary Drive Kindergarten community since 2006 when my first child attended the 3 year old kinder program. Since then my other two children have attended both 3 and 4 year old kinder. In that time I enjoyed my role on the Committee of Management, which then led me into this position as a staff member. I have throughly enjoyed all my time at the kinder as a parent and staff member. My three children also have enjoyed their time here as well, with many fond memories.
